People are Incredibly Hard on this...

For a movie based on 20+ terrible Godzilla movies before it.

I understand the nostalgia and fun of the other movies, but let's be serious; they're bad, just about all of them. So bashing this isn't even a matter of whether or not it's a good movie. Everyone is hating on it because it's not their idea of an enjoyably bad movie like the rest of them.

So many cool stories but not enough bros.

I gave it a 6. Loved everything about it EXCEPT the incredibly wooden Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the lead role.

Cranston should have phoned it in

Maybe there's hope for Rogue One yet

I don't get it either. It's not a 10 but it is the BEST Godzilla movie I've ever seen. As a kid, I saw almost all Godzilla movies made by Toho and other studios, so I've got background to make my argument. I quit watching the horrible 1998 version about halfway through however, so it's likely the only one I didn't completely see.

Gareth managed to tell a good story, insert a more believable human element into it and gave us a spectacular fight scene at the end.

Seriously, what else do people want or expect???

Dear Santa, please send me a Tiffany Mynx clone or lovebot this year.

Seems like a valid reason to me.

I admit, while the 2014 film does have some faults in it (such as teasing the big fight scenes), I honestly think the dark tone helps the film, cause it was a necessary route to re-introduce Godzilla back into his antihero manner, trying to distance him from the later campy tone that he has basically become molded into. It's like what happened with the Batman franchise - After the disappointing campy tone of Batman & Robin, they opted a reboot titled Batman Begins, and contrasted it from the earlier films by having a dark & gritty tone, which helped the film.

I'm also honestly not bothered with the limited amount of Godzilla in this, cause I know that with the sequel on the horizon, they're gonna HAVE to show more of G in it, and more so with the third film Kong vs. Godzilla. 😜

The ones that seem to bash this film are mostly those who have been spoiled by Hollywood CGI-fest and who need their ADD stimulated every 3 minutes because they just don't have the patience to sit through a film that tells a story.
