Wow this movie was sappy...

It was ruined with a lot of political correctness, poor editing, a horrible ending and way too much sapiness.

By all accounts, I thought Momoa had a much more primal gait about him than Arnold, which really made it seem as if he was Conan. Momoa happened to be the only saving grace for the film and Rose McGowan, because boy was this film sappy.

I love, love, loved Momoa's swordplay and he looked legit. You could tell he felt at home wielding the steel and that goes a long way in looking legit. But Lang seemed to be sleep walking through the movie by the end.

And man, his lady friend/booty call girl was just kind of annoying and lame.

Everyone on this board is right: compared to the Arnold flick this movie doesn't hold a candle. Momoa has skills and potential but this was a waste. What's worse is that there were no cleanly captured fight scenes so it was hard -- no, it was impossible to see any sort of sword styles on display (one of the things I loved about the old Arnold flick is that montage they showed of Arnie wielding various swords and enhancing his knowledge of the steel blade until he mastered his own style, that was brilliant).

The beginning parts with Ron Perlman were gold but yeah, after that it was trash.

EDIT: OH yeah, and WTF was up with the lame soundtrack? Wow, this movie had nothing on Basil Poledouris' amazing soundtrack for the original Conan.
