Why not just grind one of the bone piece and throw it in the wind/river

or have pigs eat it. There, problem solved.

I've seen this idiotic premise in so many movies (Lara Croft comes to mind). Some powerful artefact get split n-ways and all pieces are protected by some dedicated people and then in the end when evil assembles all of them together it takes a pickaxe to break the thing and end everybody's misery.

I toured the VATICAN museums. The guides bragged about how the VATICAN has the largest collection of PAGAN ART in the world.

There is always some religious order that wants to preserve "evil" relics and point to them as "proof" of evil their own congregations will fall in line.

You are correct - if these items were truly evil they should have been destroyed immediately, and I too hate the divide-and-prevent defense from evil which never works.

The Catholics presumably believe that these pagan relics are powerless. Not so the various barbarian tribes.
