my primary complaint about the movie

i don't mind that conan's people were slaughtered by an evil warlord.
i don't mind that conan fought and defeated a guy who had ambitions to CONQUER THE WORLD.
but it does seem awfully convenient that they happened to be the same guy, and that conan's little podunk village happened to have one of the 13 (i think?) pieces of the mask of destiny, or whatever it was called.
what's wrong with conan's nemesis being some run-of-the-mill warlord, or with the evil megalomaniac who wants to rule everything not being the guy who burned the hero's village?

I think they borrowed from the 1982 version where essentially the same thing happened and it is a lazy way to give the character a motivation to engage the villain.

...was that it didn't seem to have the slightest sense of humour.
