IMO, Jason Momoa is better Conan then Arnie. He delivered that barbarian essence more efficiently then the Governator. He was raw, brutal and brave, as Conan should be.
I know that Schwarzenegger is a legend of action, but I can't deny what's in front of me.
AMEN! Momoa and this film are the essence of what Howard imagined.But you can`t tell that to people who are unfamiliar with the source material or saw the Milius film first.Arnie`s Conan is to Howard what Kenny G is to real jazz.A pale, flawed imitation.

Momoa at least looks like he doesn't need steroids to kick someones ass (whether or not he actually takes any). For the reboot he was perfect. Conan will always be my first foray into hardcore fantasy as a child, so Arnie will always be a special role.
But Momoa was exactly the kind of Conan I expected. He had a berserker quality that was never in the original.
I'd agree, he *looks* like all that you describe... But he and just about every other actor in this were complete and utter *beep*
The scene where Arnie's Conan talks (accent notwithstanding) about picking wild blueberries with his father was far better acting than anything in the 2011 one... and since I know at least half the 2011 cast *can* act, at least to some degree, I think that speaks volumes about the screenplay writers and the director!
I'd say their hearts just weren't in it. Even Ron Perlman had that, "Doing it for the money" look in his eyes... and he's a favourite of mine!!
Perhaps he was thinking of next season's Sons Of Anarchy...

Arnold was known as a limited actor. They tried to put him in other stuff but it was playing an emotionless robot that put him over the top

Get over it.One of the aspects where the earlier film was superior was that at least there was some humour and decent one-liners. I don't think any one cracked a smile throughout this one. It was all blood and guts, played very much for real. People do tend to tire of that when offered up constantly without respite. share
Jason Momoa was literally the only reason I even cared about this movie. I do like Rachel Nichols but didn't realize she was in it at first.
Jason was awesome as Ronon Dex.
This Conan was so much better. People can spam-hate as much as they like, I just love this movie.
