Pregnancy and also the end (spoilers)

So I think I've read through most of the posts here, and I have yet to see anyone address a couple things I noticed/have questions about.

I think Diana first planned to keep the baby. She rubbed her stomach lovingly when she was underwater in the pool. And she was also picking out baby names. So did the boyfriend pressure her to get rid of the baby? If so, I think that would change the moral of the story for those who interpret her sacrifice for Maureen as an atoning for the abortion. Really all she was guilty of was giving into bullying from an older, smarmy guy. But I do think that'd be an interesting take because she'd be making up for a shallow decision she made to appease a bad person by choosing a profound decision to save a good person she loved.

Also, I'm not entirely convinced Diana died in the shooting. I'm almost certain she did, but then when the EMT/cop and the doctor both say, "He missed you," I thought maybe it was a reference that the shooter missed Diana? I mean, not completely, but he shot her on the right side of her chest -- so that should've missed her heart.

I don't know. This movie really affected me. I thought the bathroom scenes were so well done. It was scary to feel how such a terrifying situation developed in as mundane a place as a high school girls' restroom.

I'm currently reading the book, and there are differences so far.
