So the best story was....

Thou shall not covet neighbours goods. Liev is *beep* awesome. When he hit his wife and then told her he didn't see her there I lost it.

Yeah this was the strongest of all of the sketches. I liked the whole movie a lot though. Rated it a 9/10. But this sketch was just so rediculous.

Ol' Willie hates your guts!

I liked all expect Prison story and the last story. Also Ryder *beep* a puppet was odd.

reply

I loved that story too...Liev was awesome. I also loved the guy buried in the ground and the naked guys on Sunday.

reply

I liked that one too!Best one was the prison rape sketch though.

Go fly a kite Gretchen!

@joestank15--Nice "Go fly a kite!" quote...

I love when he apologizes for that later:

"I shouldn't have said that. Not after what happened with you...and a kite....and your brother."

The way Paul Rudd delivers that is perfect. I don't know why that's funny, but it is.

Yeah, i'd be shocked if this movie was the standard for comedy, because it was really dumb, but there were some good moments of true satire (well, quasi-satire).
the whole thing with liev schreiber and the CAT scan machines sort of redeemed everything bad about the movie (i.e. the whole sketch with winona ryder's romance with the puppet, all the spontaneous slapping, and the awful musical scene at the end). I was also thinking about making a post just about how stupid and awesome the liev schreiber sketch was, because my brother and i were just in stitches. it brought the movie from a 5/10 to a 7/10 for me. but everyone is entitled to their sense of humor.

Winona and the puppet.

Winona and the puppet, for me too. This was hilarious. Like a hole the movie was decent.

I'm torn between the coveting neighbours goods and the murder for favorites. I guess I'd have to go with the CAT scans, but the way the judge tells off the jury is great. Third favorite would probably be honor thy father and mother. Particularly for the "do you want me to spell it out for you?" bit.

Otherwise, the movie was kinda hit and miss. The ending didn't particularly do anything for me- sketch or song. I almost would have preferred Rudd's storyarc to revolve around "remembering the sabbath" instead of the adultry story, just so it would have at least had a more practical conclusion.

Coveting thy neighbor's good stands out the most to me, but Winona and the puppet and honor your parents also have merits. This film is intermittently brilliant and tortuous, and it deserves to be watched several times before forming a true opinion. I'm not surprised that so many people seem to hate it, just as so many people seem to love it. It's certainly original. 7/10, although I might rate it higher when I watch it again.
