So many people here are angry at this film - how did they let the bad guys just kill everyone, how could they kill a child, why didn't the family fight back, what the hell was this rewind scene!
If you feel such emotions about this film, then you are reacting exactly as Haneke (the director) wanted you to react. Going against your expectations and making you angry was exactly the point of this film.
I wasn't angry, just bored. Played out the same way most home invasion movies do. I'm kind of bored with the bad guys killing everyone and getting away, happens all the time now. How could they kill a child? This happens all the time, Eden Lake anyone?

I'm only a few months late so it's alright haha... I don't know, I just kept thinking 'this is what kids are like in the UK anyway' and that they should have just left when there were problems in the first place. It was a good film but I just lost interest.

I agree with slasher and daniel. The film didn't make me angry, just bored. It wasn't nearly as edgy as the creators evidently thought it was. The whole banality-of-evil thing has been done to death.
The Simpsons pretty much summed up that whole genre with their parody of Tarantino(cameoing on Itchy and Scratchy):
"Okay, what I'm tryin' to say here, man, is that violence is everywhere in our society, it's like even in our breakfast cereals".
this movie was Wonderful...it DID really play with my emotions and i love movies like that

You're setting up a false set of options. There is a third one that exists: those people who saw the film, realized the intention of the director/writer, and still saw it as crap.
Keeping only those two options means that one of the options is actually that the director/writer is so untouchably perfect that he can only have succeeded in his goal.
Come one. Be a bit more logical, balanced and mature. There will be some films that other people will have on their Top Five of all time and you will personally feel that they are pieces of crap. Allow others that same freedom.
Please do not make negative comments about a film YOU NEVER SAW. It makes you look stupid.
