I totally agree but I love this movie and have the DVD! My favorite part, other than the grim realistic story, no cheesy soundtrack, and no gore/sex to sell the movie, was the killers themselves! They were so polite, creepy, funny.. (and handsome) (* O u O *)

I actually started watching this thinking it was going to be a lot more disturbing and brutal than it was. I kept expecting one of them to rape Naomi Watts' character. And I thought it might have had a little more extreme violence in it too.

It's still highly effective though. It's probably one of the most accurate depictions of a psychopath I've seen. Both of them were *beep* chilling. And the fact that you never know why they're doing what they're doing or where they have come from or who they really are, is really clever. That's the most disturbing part for me. Not the violence. It's just the complete mystery of who they are.

I agree it felt way too real for me. I stumbled upon the original in Tcm one night and now I'm watching the remake.

I was actually MAD after seeing this movie..in fact, wish I could UNwatch it!
