What really bothered me (SPOILERS)

In the scene where the kid gets the bag over his head and is being sufficated, Paul tells Anna to take off her clothes or the kid will be hurt. Now after this, she stands there for around 30 seconds, in total horror of her son sufficating. Then, as the kid is screaming to the point of agony, THEN she decides to get undressed. It's almost like she was more concerned about her body being seen than her own son's life.

My friend whom I watched it with said the same thing. She also added if that were her in that situation, her clothes would've been off her in less than a second.

No spoilers today!!

I don't think so..I think she was equally upset about both. You have to remember she is a woman at the end of the day, and alot of women experience all sorts of insecurities which can interfere with rational thinking. I don't think she intentionally made it look like she didn't care about her son..

but hey..come on..the guys just had a bet to see if she had jelly rolls..it's a matter of being humiliated and saving her son's life all in one..

maybe she was afraid of the possibility of the two young men sexualizing her or her son in some kind of sick way, and the long-term effects of that, or whatever. but they did tend to poke fun at her to exploit the typical insecurities of many women.

He wasn't even being suffocated , they did that so he wouldn't see his own mother naked, to preserve moral decency they said. It was an intense scene though..

Its really hard to say what one would ACTUALLY do in the situation, because playing a scenario out in your head you make your self more of a hero than you really are. I do this anyways.

She's in shock. I mean after everything she's already been through and witnessed, she's in shock, at that moment her mind was literally trying to numb itself from the horror they go through. It isn't that she doesn't care, it's more of her conscious mind is simply trying not to exist in that moment.

You're correct, cylon. A trauma that intense would paralyze someone for hours, if not forever. People often mistake inaction during traumatic events as being cowardly, or being a bad person (the typical "I would have done this or that"), but being in a situation that disturbing, it's a wonder she didn't just shut down completely. Most people would. Or they may do it in a heartbeat, then completely shut down. Brain fight or flight overload.

Slight Off-topic,

which part of Ann did the two nutjobs mean by "no jelly rolls"?

They meant the stomach area.

They put a pillow case over his head, therefore he'd still be able to breathe even if the air is limited to tiny cross-section holes. They, as evntylr said, were hiding George (Jr) from seeing his mother undress. Basically if Naomi watts' character (I really can't remember her characters name) didn't undress for them, then the outcome for George could have been much worse than a pillow case over his head. It's brutal, I know.

I suspect she was afraid they'd rape her...with her son hearing the whole thing. At that point I very much doubt she was at all dealing with any 'womanly insecurities' about her body, but having a woman undress in such a way is not only humiliating as probably a foreshadowing of rape.

Come on now, two guys that are holding her entire family captive are commenting on her body and asking her to undres...the implication seems faily obvious to me.

I agree ^^ I'm a woman and as I was watching, I was sure that request was the opening of a rape scene. For a lot of women the threat of rape lurks in the back of the mind when you find yourself in a risky situation. I'm sure she didn't comply immediately because she was afraid of being raped in front of her son, or have the two psychos force her and her husband to perform something sexual in front of Georgie.
