I love it!

A lot of lol moments... more like lmaorofl...
I was originally surprised when I found out that Jessica Biel was cast, but I'm very pleased with her. The entire cast is awesome. Can't wait to see it again!

I enjoyed it as well, very stylized and well acted. I love how well they turned such a dark play into a romantic comedy.

"Buy the ticket, take the ride" - Dr. Hunter S. Thompson

Yeah I just saw it and thought it was good. Jessica Biel was really great, much better than I was expecting. Ben Barnes on the other hand was clearly the weak link. Poor acting and he's not even that good looking to compensate!

I saw the trailer and it looks hilarious!

"Where have all the good vampire movies gone?"

reply

I agree, it was splendid.

Jessica Biel was a total surprise. She was wonderful. Colin Firth did the brooding, sardonic, war-scarred (emotionally, not physically) father-in-law to perfection. Kristin Scott-Thomas was cold-as-ice as his wife.

Very funny, poignant, with twists Noel Coward never dreamed of. Highly recommended.

I am really looking forward to seeing it now. I quite like the original play. Plus, the trailer looks very good. Glad to hear that Ben, Jessica, Colin and Kristen gave good performances too. I was a little worried about Biel originally. To anyone who's seen it what was Charlotte Riley(Sarah) like?. It's only because she's playing Cathy in Wuthering Heights, which is my favourite novel. So i'd like to know what she was like. Even if the two are on opposite ends of the spectrum. So, it won't exacly be indicative, but i'd still like to know.

This movie was all about the lulz. No but seriously; one of this year's best.

A nice gentle comedy, not magical, but very decent after the first 20/30 minutes..... 7/10

I'm not a big Jessica Biel fan, but it looks like she's really good in this. I'm looking forward to seeing it some time soon. :]

I really liked it - I thought it looked gorgeous, was very stylised - it actually took me a little while to get into the over stylisation (esp when i missed the first 5 mins, which i hate when it happens) - it was funny, well cast and had a great soundtrack - and i was pleased to find Colin Firth and Kris Marshall in it! Oh and I loved the tango scene!

as i missed the first 5 mins - can someone tell me what happened? I entered in when they're driving to his house to meet the family and they switch places at the wheel.

Do you have monkeys in Scotland?
~No, but if we did we'd probably deep fry them!

reply

Yes - I enjoyed it very much... The change of mood about a third of the way through was a bit awkward. But, otherwise, absolutely delightful!

Just seen the film.
Funniest film I have seen for quite a while.
I laughed out loud in the cinema at several points.
Great to see Katherine Parkinson (IT Crowd).
The film kept me engaged throughout.
It felt like Importance of being Ernest meets Gosford Park. Stately Home. 1920's. Plenty of comings and goings. Witty dialogue. A few tasteful visual gags.
It does seem to be on a somewhat restricted release which is a shame. It was not on at our local multiplex so had to search on-line to find a cinema showing it.

reply

Yes, it seems to have had an even more shorter limited release than most limited release films usually get, which is a shame. I've still yet to see it.

I didnt think it was too bad but just another forgettable comedy. Certainly better than I expected though

i basically seen this because of Biel but to be honest i thought the film was rather boring 'overall'. Biel was not bad at times and it was sorta funny seeing her act out some of the scenes (because it's different from what she usually does ;) ) but besides those occasional decent moments the overall film is just on the boring side when is all said and done. so that's ultimately why i cant really give it over a 4/10 (at times the film was a 5/10 range but it goes on longer semi-boring stretches )

bottom line... i give it a 4-5/10 ( i went with a 4/10 though 'overall' ) ... it's one of the worst Biel films i seen because even though it's different from her typical acting, which in a way is a good thing, the film itself is pretty much on the boring side at the end of the day :(
