Should I buy this DVD?

Should I buy this DVD? I've not seen the film before and am dubious about buying it incase I don't enjoy it. I love period films, especially set in the 1920s era. I love comedy of manners and films based on a clash of cultures. The only aspect of the film that puts me off is the slapstick element. I've heard about a scene involving a dog, apparently it's very farcical. Is the films humour based on witty dialogue or is a lot of it slapstick farce comedy?

I'd be really grateful for your advice.

I'd say a lot of it is based on witty humor. The bit with the dog did get a bit out of hand. But I enjoyed it overall. Biel's character is a little spitfire and even though I don't usually like her as an actress, she made me like her in this role. Colin Firth was amazing, lovely, and hilarious as always. Ben Barnes was adorable and endearing. And Kristen Scott Thomas was fierce and wicked. I will definitely purchase it when it comes out. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.
