John Whittaker's Generation

What is the name for John Whittaker's generation? I know he came of age during the interwar years, but I'm sure there's name for it. These were people born before WWI but too young to serve during the war. Thanks to anyone who can help.

Are you thinking of the Edwardian era? Approx 1901 - 1918?

I've heard of The "Lost Generation" but I thought that they were those who did serve in WWI.
