Stephen King's 'The Stand'

This movie really reminded me of this awesome book. (and average mini series)

Similar kind of virus and setting. It could kind of played along side to the book

Remember that New Years party at Lenny’s. He didn’t even have a clock

It actually felt to me like a Stephen King short story called Night Surf, which in it's own way was a mini version of The Stand.

My thoughts exactly. I read the synopsis, watched the first few minutes and was all like "Oh, somebody's decided to make a film about Night Surf. Let's see what they can do." And it wasn't bad at all, goes to show that with a good idea, good script and good execution you don't need a massive budget and tons of special effects to make a decent movie. It wasn't brilliant though, just a good little apocalypse film, but it felt just a little bit too short & lacking in some ways.

Thank you so much! I saw this film last night and was thinking, I feel like I've read this story before but couldn't think what it was, and that's it= Stephen King's Night Surf. Very similar indeed.

Disasters are just another star falling in my yard

Yes definitely inspired by "Night Surf". The trip to the beach, the survivors listening to the preacher on the radio etc. etc.
