An OK film that didn't know what it wanted to be

I'm pretty picky with movies, and I try not to start nitpicking at the stupid things that happen, or things that people do. A fair bit of this movie had me laughing, from letting go of the steering wheel to Brian at the edge of the bloody diving board poking the bottom of the pool? (what the hell?). But there was something to it that hit me emotionally.

At points it felt like it was trying to be "The Road," but mixed it with your typical "good looking young adults being slowly killed off" crap. Some really stupid and pointless moments mixed with good dialogue, some deeper messages, and a feeling of helplessness and desolation. It was all mixed up.

I really loved the ending. It reminded me of Into the Wild for some reason. That sense of knowing you're leaving the world as we know it behind, that it's all becoming more and more distant, and the memories, which is all they have left, are fading as well.

Far from a perfect movie, but it hit a spot in the feels that got me writing this here (which most movies don't do, really...). Maybe i'm just in somewhat of an emotional state right now, who knows. But it wasn't bad in my mind.
