Can fans from UK confirm this wiki-rumor?

I just read the wikipedia article on Ugly Betty and saw this:

"As of 2011, the British broadcaster Channel 4 announced that it is considering plans to create a spin-off series of Ugly Betty following a more successive trend compared to the USA ratings."

I googled around and couldn't find anything to support this. As we all know, anybody with a keyboard can write any rumor on wikipedia, real or imaginary.

Does anyone know more info on this?

Could it be true, or is just a terrible lie that will crush my heart and make me sob for days?

I have not heard of this rumour, but I hope to god its true, as long as it stars Daniel, Betty, Amanda and Marc, I will be one happy lady :o) I have to look into this rumour and see if its true (Hope so...)

Haha, a show about Betty in the UK would be amazing. But I don't believe it, don't get your hopes up! UB is gone forever I'm afraid.

Lenora Chrichlow, who plays Annie in the oringinal English version of Being Human, was in a show a bit like Ugly Betty that was called Material Girl. It was played on the BBC and was pretty bad apparently.
