Betty's look toward the last series

So I've re-watched the series and what strikes me is that I feel like Betty looses her identity a bit and in fact doesn't look - fashion wise - much better. I liked her style in the middle series but when it got to the last series and she changed her look I felt like Betty lost her character and identity. How does everyone else feel about the change?

Her new look in the final season was terrible. I think the writers were preparing for the inevitable cancellation but still did not. So they altered her look a little bit to make her look better because there was talk to do that all along but they didn't go full out and make her drop dead beautiful.

I don't know who they had dressing her though because she looked worse than before she just was wearing "designer clothing".

I agree, towards the end it just felt like they gave up a bit. With everything really.

I am disappointed too. That's why I can't ship Daniel and Betty. It's like Betty lost weight, started wearing better clothes, removed the glasses, and got pretty and then Daniel notices her.It defeats the entire message of the show.

Agreed, she lost her personality! The way she dressed and looked was a reflection of her personality. And that diminished towards the end.

I've never been a fan of Betty's look. I love most of her clothes (but as separate items, not how she wears them meshed together). I actually like how her character grew throughout the series, and I did not feel like she lost her personality at all. I felt she matured and grew up. Series one Betty saw everything in black and white, was very judgmental and had a serious superiority complex at time (which she used to hide her anxiety and insecurity).
As Betty grew she became more confident in herself, in her talent as a writer and in her own style. I loved watching her mature, because she still remained a loving, kind and generous person, but let go of her judgment and insecurity.
I know many people will disagree with my point of view, but heck I adore Betty.

Also, many of Betty's outfits in the early seasons looked sooooooo warm to wear. Too many layers!
