Ignacio and Elena
I've seen a couple of people on here say they agreed with Betty and Hilda that Ignacio's relationship with Elena was totally inappropriate... but I really don't understand why. They were both consenting adults, and it's not like Igancio was particularly vulnerable in terms of mental health issues - so she wasn't taking advantage of him and his consent wasn't compromised or coerced in any way. So why was it inappropriate?
I thought the show itself was trying to say that Betty and Hilda's real problem with it was that he hadn't dated since their mother, and it was hard for them to see. Totally understandable of course, but that still doesn't make the relationship inappropriate. Claire was right in saying that older people need to be allowed to find happiness for themselves / someone to share their later years with, if that's what they want. I liked Elena, and I thought the show struck the right note in having Betty and Hilda freak out and then gradually come to accept her.
