Lame and cheesy. HOWEVER...

... the fight scenes were BAD ASS. I really, really enjoyed all of them.

Nick slugging it out with that dude on top of the parking garage and trapping him in the car while he pushed it off the ledge was awesome. I loved how frantic and graceless the fighting was -- particularly slamming that dude's head in the car door, .

And the shootout at the end was also great. The directing, which had sucked the entire movie, suddenly got really good during that part. I really like the framing, particularly when he was blowing holes through the walls and the camera was shooting through and back out of them. Good stuff.

And yo momma, too.

It was funny! But.. in a really cool way. I think it was kind of comical, how brutal it was. Like, here's this suburban, white collar dad who's fighting for his life against a crazy thug and he's so terrified and desperate that he SLAMS some random sedan's door closed on the guy's head a sh-tload of times in an attempt to immobilize him.

And yo momma, too.

It really WAS cheesy. piss poor acting from most of the people who werent kevin bacon (although he kinda wasn't as great in this as he could've been) or john goodman, overused bad music, weird plot points...just a lot of small things (aside from acting) that added up. Really hated the kid who played his other son and the scene when they come to attack his family couldve been great if they didn't put any music over him lying on the floor. This movie is a 5/10 at best. MAYBE a 6.

The direction certainly did not suck throughout the film "except for the fights". It was consistantly well done and creative. The flaws in the film came from the writing and dialogue. Despite those, they were directed and photographed excellently.
