Is there a more cliche' ridden film than this?

Goodman, Bacon and the actor who played Billy actually had great performances but I found this film falling back on the cheesy "surefire" stuff to capture the audience at large like nostalgic home movies, the "perfect family" rocked by tragedy, lyrical scoring during the appropriately sad moments, and visual style that at time was just weird. Come on, what was up with the final duel at the crimson stained glassed church with all the light pouring in? I usually like stylization but here I just found it off and too bad because the sequences themselves were pretty good but on the whole it just made a gigantic cliche', in my opinion of course.

Wan's just riffing on the cheesy DEATH WISH rip-offs of the '80s - just as did HOBO WITH A SHOTGUN.

Fun flicks.
