Was it true this wasn't the Old Man as a kid?

I never got into this show when it was on in real time. It got canceled after a year, so I wasn't interested in pursuing it.

I read once on the old IMDB boards to not bother with this show since it was canceled and it was about another Joseph Adama (a relative) and not the Old Man from BSG. Is that true?

It's an excellent show, and only a single season, but it's at least a good season and it ties in directly with Blood & Chrome and the Reimagined BSG series from 2003. I recommend the viewing.

Spoilers below.

So the William Adama we see for most of this show is not Bill Adama from RDM 2003 unfortunately, he is killed off but his younger brother from a different mother is Bill Adama from RDM's 2003 series.

The first Cylon in the Twelve Colonies of Kobol is an angry girl from high school, Zoe, who is in the middle of exploring her sexuality in V-World (Virtual World) with her best friend. There is a Maglev explosion which takes her life, but the virtual avatar she created of herself remains alive within V-World. It is conscious and sentient.

This avatar then becomes the first Cylon. To top it all off, the former deceased girl's father, Daniel, is the creator of the first physical Cylon using stolen technology from a rival corporation.
