So when Henry changed history to save Kim that was disastrous. What's different now when they got sent back to 1947, came back with Grant. History got changed there too, so why isn't that disastrous?

Just specualation, but maybe because the presence of 2 Kims in (even if one is dead) in the Season 1 alternate timeline created the paradox that was mucking everything up. Like the Back the Future explanation where you can't meet yourself.
Although, the S1 timeline took 4 years for the anomalies to appear, assuming that Henry reset time to start from when Kim died in 2006... story took place in 2010. Maybe 4 years from when the 1947 travelers return, maybe anomales will appear in the reboot timeline, too. Though there will be no show to see the effect... BOO!
Because they were different methods of time travel. The tachyon thing, and Einsteins Wormhole bridge device.
