I just marathon'd the show (loved it! such fun) and I don't think they ever touched on this..
I don't remember the episode title but it was where it was 4ish years in the future and Allison was pregnant but Jack went back in time and stopped Henry from saving Kim and then Henry erased Jack's memory of those 4 years ever happening.
Did Henry erase his own memories? I didn't think he did because he destroyed the device. And I figured at some point that plot point would come back somehow. I thought what Henry did was horrible (though understandable and at the same time a nice thing to do..) but I was so surprised that it never showed up again.
I just don't know how you could reasonably revisit that. What would the point be?
What could Henry say to Jack about it that would have any meaning or context or purpose?
It's not as if something from the Henry-Kim-lost-time was impacting Jack (or anyone) in the end.
Ahhhh.. wait. Maybe that's how it could've been done. About half way into S5, before JC and AB marry, Jack could have a heart to heart with Henry.... centered around JC's *haunting feeling* that it's just not going to work out with AB and it's destined to cause them both great heartache, and, and, and... (ala.. subconscious residuals of the lost-time, although no memories to back them up).
And Henry could play sage (again) and convince Jack that "what could happen bad may be happening on other time lines. You, right here, right now, have the say over what this time line is for you."
Then Jack would be all in... and do the submarine surprise next ep. :-)

I guess to me, it's more about Henry and him keeping such a huge thing from Jack. If Henry wiped his memory and forgot as well, then OK, nothing to be done. But he remembers that timeline, right? He remembers that Jack was happy and had a child on the way, he remembers that he had that life and then took the choice away from him and made him forget, right? I think Henry has come to the point of forgiving Jack for stopping him save Kim but still.. it's such a deep, dark secret he's kept from his best friend.

henry has forgiven him so there is no point in bringing it up again. its not that big of an issue for me, didn't henry do the right thing. when they went back in time, things started getting better between allison and stark, how could jack handle seeing that, when he remembers that they have a life in the future, and it might not happen anymore.
Yeah, he thought he was doing the right thing and probably more than likely Jack would have gone along with it.. he seemed like he was but... Henry took the choice.
I guess it bothers me not because of what actually happened and how it all turned out and whether or not Henry forgave Jack it's that.... Henry did it and kept it from him forever. To his best friend. It just doesn't sit well with me.
It makes sense for him to keep it from him since the knowledge of the two timelines was so painful for Jack. Obviously now he can tell him since Jack and Allison are finally together. Maybe we can assume, since they aren't going their separate ways, that he does tell him and everything is okay :)
That's one of my favorite episodes, by the way. I love seeing the alternate lives they all had :)
If you'll think back to Season 4, when they are all sitting around the table in 1947 Henry mentions hsi time travelling, then in the later ep when Jack has to save Allison from getting killed, Henry again comments on his own experience.
It's brief, but it's there, and that made me enjoy that season a lot!
I don't really see how it could be visited in-depth, but in the final episode, Henry is made director of GD again, and Carter mentions having deja-vu when Allison mentions she's pregnant. That kind of tied it up for me at least.
Yeah this. Henry never told Carter and the 'why' of all that was never explained. A lot of story arcs just ended as tho they never happened. Artifact anyone?
This reactive story telling in sci fi shows is becoming a problem as writers constantly tweak to find a hook to stop audience loss.
