Jo's tattoo

What happened to Jo's Army tattoo on her left shoulder? First couple of seasons it was there after that, whenever she goes sleeveless or tank top it's gone. Currently watching all episodes in order on Netflix and am only near the end of the third season. Was anything ever mentioned which I missed or did they just stop applying it like they did to Abby's large crucifix on her back on NCIS?

reply

Hmm, never even noticed she had a tattoo, or it's just been so long I don't remember it. So I can't answer your question, sorry.

Go back and look at the pilot and then in subsequent episodes in at least the first two seasons. She has a special forces tat with crossed rifles and I believe a skull. Somewhere in the third season she was wearing a strapless evening gown and I just started season four where she is in the same tank top and all of a sudden no ink. I just like continuity I guess.

I think Eureka suffered a few continuity errors in its day. That tattoo just up and disappeared without explanation.

However, it was a pretty rough looking tattoo (in standards of needlework) so I wonder if they just realised how tacky it looked and removed it. I like to imagine that in Eureka tattoo-removal is a surgery-free, fast and painless and ridiculously simple procedure. Maybe you can have it done at the same time as you pick up a coffee or something? So maybe she just ducked out and had it removed between episodes? But yes. Continuity error.

reply

I do keep forgetting it is Eureka after all. So correct.

(This makes me think of when Lucy Lawless guested on the Simpsons and addressed the pedantic Xena questions from nerds by saying 'any time you notice anything wrong: a wizard did it'. I think Eureka operates under the same rules. Any time the continuity editors had a flaky moment: Eureka-science applies).

And I also wonder why Jo waited until now (this season) to get a quick Eureka rhinoplasty procedure.

Well, you're a little late to that party eronav. Someone posted about it on her board in 2011. Here is my last response in that thread: "Someone asked her on twitter and her response was that she had broken her nose when she was younger and it was causing breathing problems so she had it fixed."

Every actress who has ever admitted to a nose job cites "breathing problems".

That's true but the Tattoo was gone before they went back to the 40's. I think the production just stopped putting it on her as her character had been established as a warrior.

PS just wanted to say that her nose never ever bothered me - always thought she was quite hot.
