Question. Just started Season 4..... Spoilers if you havent seen S4

I am just getting in to Season 4. I am watching it on Netflix. Basically I just watched the premiere episode of season 4, and in the recap of how season 3 ended it made me think I had missed an episode. It showed Carter and the girlfriend who went to Australia, breaking up??? And she was a hologram when she broke up with him.... so confused. What I last saw was him looking at plane tickets to decide what to do..... Did I miss an episode? I didn't think I had.

Yeah, it was a bit confusing the way they squeezed the breakup scene into a "Previously on Eureka" clip right when season 4 started. Having Carter mention during the season 4 premiere that he and Tess broke up probably would've sufficed.

The real answer is on the DVD commentary. They did shoot the Jack/Tess break up scene as part of the finale for season 3, but the scene was long and the episode time ran too long, so they cut it from the episode but spliced a bit onto the "Previously on..." for season 4, episode one to explain Tess' sudden absence.

And yes, I think they handled it sloppily. Just inserting a clearer reference like "Tess took the job in Australia" in season 4 episode 1 would have sufficed and been much less confusing.

The deleted break up scene is on the DVD, so I have been told.

On the DVD Season 4.0, the extended episode of "Founder's Day" opens with a different "previously on Eureka", then starts in Sheriff Carter's smart house with Carter and Tess. It shows the whole scene and ends with the hologram Tess breaking up with Carter.
