Continuum and Defiance on SyFy are entertaining enough (Being Human and Haven are okay), but I keep being reminded of Eureka and keep feeling like its newest season is supposed to be starting any time now.
Eureka gave me the science I needed while entertaining me, it was perfect, i keep panicking every time I rewatch it, something like "its about to end, AGAIN"
Being Human UK or US? I only watched the UK version and I loved it
Haven I am yet to watch, sounds interesting, but yeah, the plot reminds me of Eureka.
Thats the worse, when you feel like theres something you are forgetting about and its just your brain that can't let go a show
Being Human US. I'll have to check out the UK version (UK versions are usually better, IMO). Eureka did have the perfect balance which is one reason it's hard to accept that it's not returning.
Occasionally there are scenes on Defiance where the music sounds a lot like music on Eureka (same music director), then I start to picture Sheriff Carter, Allison, Henry, etc., showing up in the scenes . I don't know if you've seen Defiance, but it was amusing how part of the initial premise of that show was a lot like Eureka: Guys in their late 30s or early 40s showing up in unique towns with their teenage daughters and being asked to stay to help maintain law and order. Defiance is different enough from Eureka that it doesn't feel like a rip-off, but IMDb members show up regularly on that board to say it is a rip-off, which again makes me think of Eureka...
Watch Being Human, the original UK version.
Don't waste your time with the US copy of the show. It's horrible.
Of course, that's my opinion.
It kills me that they renew shows like Real Housewives and Honey Boo Boo when they cancel intelligent yet entertaining shows like Eureka.
I JUST finished it and already miss it like crazy.
Continuum is a good show. It has good and bad points but, overall, it's pretty good. It had a strong start, then went kind of sour for a little while, and more recently it has been going back uphill. The bad part of the show is when they do a horrible job trying to mimic the way overdone "police procedural" style that only, oh, about 23,587,236 other TV shows are doing, only within a science fiction context... and it just does not work. Thankfully that didn't last long and they got back into a more science fiction feel, at which point the show started to improve.
I tried watching Defiance. It had a solid start but quickly fell into a very monotonous routine of extremely predictable story and character developments. I quit watching that show. I was really hoping it would be a fun, new, refreshing, and exciting science fiction show. I need my sci-fi fix. However, despite it being technically sci-fi genre, it only left me with the impression that it is befitting a garbage genre. Not worth watching. Now, if they end up making drastic improvements then I'll give it another try but if they drift back to the garbage that they quickly fell into after the first couple episodes, then I won't bother with it again.
The season finale of Defiance was pretty spectacular and shocking. This season of Continuum is good, but I liked it better last season. I wish they were doing more intriguing things with Alec this season. There's four episodes left for season 2 on SyFy, so maybe they'll get around to doing more where Alec is concerned.
Bringing the subject back around to Eureka somewhat, I liked how Vincent from Eureka (Christopher Gauthier) played a character they referred to as "Mr. Vincent" on Continuum last season. In a way his Continuum character could be what Cafe Diem's Vincent turned into after we last saw him on Eureka.
