Jo

Just started watching Eureka ... while I really enjoy the show, I am a little off put by something ...

Jo being stronger than a full grown man in shape like Carter ... sorry, unless there is some "Sci-Fi" reason for this, it is NOT possible for her to out muscle him. Out fight, yes perhaps ... but pound for pound, muscle for muscle ... no way. This feels like merely a PC move to have a strong female character. How come they just cannot have a strong female character w/o turning her into a man? Women cannot even be US Army Rangers at current, pilots and MPs yes, but not First-In Combat Units. They should had made her a former MP (Female MP exist in combat zones to handle women and/or children especially in situations of search and seizures) or even FBI (women can be high ranking agents in this field and have good training in H2H and small arms) vs a Female version of a US Army Commando. :\

They should have gone far less Pvt. Vasquez (Aliens) and more Renee Walker (24) ...

Maybe she's a vampire slayer and doesn't know it? Really, it's just suspension of disbelief in order to be funny. The comedy premise of the show is a fish out of water with Carter, and that's just one more of his assumptions busted.

If a little exaggeration for comic effect annoys you, you should probably stop watching now. There are some later episodes that could result in throwing your remote control at the TV.

Naw, was just a very minor annoyance at first ... loving the show.

I just finished watching the show and it never bothered me that Jo was like a super bad ass (even though it normally does in TV shows/movies) because...

.. Eureka is a town full of geniuses and I always saw Jo as a genius in her own right about her particular field of study... badassery.

They also say throughout the show that she is "small but scrappy" haha

I didn't care for Jo's character at first but I found myself falling madly in love with her! lol Throughout the series they softened her up some but still made her out to be a bad ass. I liked that.
One thing I noticed is that in the later episodes, her special forces tattoo disappeared.

She was a little over the top in the beginning, but they definitely softened her. I was wondering about the special forces tattoo. I couldn't remember if they got rid of it. That's good. It was a little...awkward looking.

Indeed! However it was kind of worth it for that whole business of changing people's roles and relationships etc. in the show. That was such a great idea and I often tell people about it. Star Trek has done that type of thing once or twice but of course everything goes back to normal at the end of the episode. The fact that they changed everything and left it that way was brilliant I thought...
