Possible 24 film?

I have just finished watching this for the first time and the main thing that distracted me from the film (apart from how glorious Rosamund Pike looks as usual..) was how woefully miscast Tom Cruise was. He never convinced me that he could be a man who could disappear without trace if he wanted to.

This is just my opinion, but I think this would have worked better as a film if it had been retooled as a Jack Bauer film following on from the end of Season 8 of 24. Tweak a few of the details of his backstory and it would have been a much better follow up to 24 than Live Another Day.

As I said, just my opinion. ?

I would love a 24 film with Keifer, not quanting Redemption.
But since this is based on a book series it would not work.
Sounds like a cool idea though and there are a few simularites
