This movie contains some of the worst lines I have ever heard. I don't know if they aimed or meant to be cool, but I couldn't believe they could say them seriously.

The "best one":

Jack Reacher: "I mean to beat you to death and drink your blood from a boot!"

 Uh? Really? By the way, he maintained only the first half of the promise.

And then:

Sandy: "I don't mind the sight of blood."
Jack Reacher: "When it means you're not pregnant, anyway."



One more:

Gary: "I need to see some I.D.."
Jack Reacher: "I'm not showing you any I.D.."
Gary: "Well, I need to see something."
Jack Reacher: "How about the inside of an ambulance?"

This one was so stupid it was hilarious. 

As I recall, only the blood line was in a book and I'm not even sure it was this one. The others were put into the movie to make up for Cruises stature.

Fighting a religious war is like fighting over whose imaginary friend is better.

You got the point. I watched the making of in the DVD, and it was clear it was another Tom Cruise's movie, everyone at his service. The best is then when they say: in the fight scenes, Tom Cruise doesn't act: he fights. 

SOME OF THE BEST LINES EVER its what made the movie......sorry.

C'mon! They're corny lines but good!

I liked the jail scene when he is released after the fracas outside the bar where Reacher destroyed multiple testicles, noses and jaws.

Detective Emerson enters Jack's cell.

Jack Reacher: "Somebody dead?"
Emerson: "And if someone is?"
Jack Reacher: "Then they died of shame cause I was being gentle. Am I free to go?"

He killed sixteen Czechoslovakians. Guy was an interior decorator.

Just wanted to add that, in "Olympus has fallen", when Gerard Butler tells the Korean guy: "I'm gonna stick my knife through your brain.", he fulfills the promise. 

The dialogues are what put me off too, couldn't believe they still wrote lines like that especially for veteran stars like Cruise.

Tom Cruise's block of dialogue, beginning at the time Sandy sat down in the bar across from Reacher to the time she took off running down the street, were the most entertaining lines in the movie.

Don't forget when the bad guy is going to tell him where to meet them ... he says, "got a pen?" And Cruise says coolly, "Don't need one".

That's when you know Reacher is a badass *beep* ... because he can remember your address. BRING IT!

And when Duvall is reluctant to give any information to Cruise because it would piss off his customers and possibly infringe on their rights ... but then he says something like, "if you can hit this target three times, I'll tell you."

That's when you know that constitutional rights are important to the dude, unless some stranger is a really good shot.

Terrible movie.

I agree with the first one. The second one I chalked up to Duvall wanting some confirmation that Cruise was really Jack Reacher. Knowing he was Reacher would mean he knew it wasn't just some guy looking to start trouble. It was someone who would help the accused.

Sorry, I really enjoyed the dialogue. Not any worse than:

"You know how to whistle, don't you, Steve? Just put your lips together and blow."

So you REALLY didn't get the underlying sexual meaning to the way her lips looked, did you?

Besides, you are comparing movies which were made nearly 70 years apart. You didn't have the ability to say EXACTLY what you wanted to say back then.

Actually, movies were more fun back when they couldn't say exactly what they wanted.

Look, Jack Reacher is a Tom Cruise actioner. Complaining about the dialogue is like complaining that the pope is Catholic. What did you want, Tom Stoppard dialogue?
