The church I go to has a family movie night once a month, and we've been thinking about showing this movie for the December night. Is it appropriate for kids? (Like language, etc.)
I persdonally don't have a problem with crude humor, but it is the church showing it, so, what do you think?
I've heard it's not such a good movie (which disappoints me, since I really like Matthew Broderick), but I imagine kids might get a kick out of it.
Honestly, it depends how strict your church is. There is one instance of swearing, I believe it's the a word or b word. I don't remember exactly. The scene with the teenagers dancing sexy is a bit awkward. Other than that, it shouldn't be too bad and ends with a pretty good message. I found it pretty funny, but nothing too great. There is some mature humor and and one point they slightly discuss "morning wood" or a morning erection...
So, I think the movie is fine unless you are watching it with very strict parents who may not want their children to see those minor things in the movie.
Nowadass it's not how strict the church is, but how weird parents can be.
We did show them "Are We There Yet" a while back, if that's any indication. I was so bored by the movie I didn't pay attention and talked with someone most of the time.
I'd like to show "Back to the Future" some time, but am a little concerned about complaints since the word sh** is used once.
I'm just tired of showing animated movies. We just showed "Dreamer" last Saturday, and it went over well with the kids and adults.
Personally I loved this movie and I'm trying to think of any "naughty" parts that wouldn't be good for kids in Church and can't really think of any off hand. I wouldn't mind my kids watching this at all so I'd go for it:)
