Why was Mr. Brooks called 'The Thumbprint Killer'??

Why was Mr. Brooks called 'The Thumbprint Killer'?? From the crimescenes we see i cant recall that any of his murders have anything to do with thumbprints?

Why is he called that?

he would leave a thumbprint of the male and female victims in their own blood.... the dancing couple's thumbprints were on the lampshade right next to the bed...
