Still no more 2D movies from Disney?

It's sad that it seems they brought back 2D animation... for a mere 2 movies. Both of which were profitable, even if not as much as Tangled and Wreck It Ralph were.

But come on, PatF making much less money than Tangled was also the result of marketing - Tangled was much better in this regard. As for Pooh... it was a pretty low profile release as far as I know.

But since then it's all CGI and the upcoming films are also all CGI. I wish they made more 2D animated movies, I don't see why they can't also make them since they are profitable. It could be a totally different team than the ones who do the CGI stuff.

Agreed.

Considering how they renamed "Rapunzel" yadayada.... it's safe to say Disney only cares about what's profitable, not what's artistic.

Didn't they let go of some of their animators? They're probably not going to try 2D again for a while.

I wanted Frozen to be 2D... I'm glad that PaTF was 2D, at least. Shows that Disney hasn't totally abandoned it. I don't think they'd ever give it up for good.

Marketing?

I enjoyed PATF's marketing. It played to the film's strengths. Tangled's marketing made it appear as a soulless comedy.

Tangled up since 12/31/10
