I'll admit, at first, I thought the Driver was being mean, but now...

When the Driver's Former Client comes up to him at a Diner and begins amicably chatting with him, and then tells him hid brother died, Driver says something along the lines of, "Shut up, and leave me alone, or I will kick your teeth down your Goddamn throat." I thought the Driver was being mean. He just told him his brother died, and instead of offering him sympathy and condolences, he threatens to beat him up! I hated the Driver in that scene!

But, later on, I thought, "Would I really like a former client to come up to me in a diner and begin talking about how his brother died if things were strictly business between my former client and I and I didn't know his brother? The answer was no. There was no reason for the former client to be telling The Driver about his brother's death.

Although The Driver went too far with threatening to beat him up. The Driver could have simply said, "Your brother's death is none of my business," and left it at that.

It's so ironic that Ozzy Ozbourne, the Prince Of Darkness, is so damn adorable.

Driver wants to be alone. He has retreated to a diner to eat ice cream (much like a child would do when sad) because Standard has come home from jail, and he knows he wont get Irene. He also desperatly wants to get out of the dark side of his life. This is why he tells him to *beep* off.

The Driver is just being logical

he is cautious, hence the reoccuring '5 minute window' thing. he does not take risks and likes to keep a low profile. chit chatting with a former 'client' only puts him at risk. that is why he was rude
not because he disliked (he didn't even know him) the guy or for any other reason. he is a recluse but first and foremost he cares about his own privacy in terms of his crimes

If i go crazy will you still call me Superman?

To both of you, you guys are right. I'd be pissy too if a former client came up to me and started chit chatting with me when I really just want to be alone....

One of his rules was not working with the same person two times and the guy wanted him to break this rule

reply

Yea it was obvious that guy wanted to use the Driver for another job, which does explain the story about his brother's death; probably wanting the Driver to seek out the killers and the Driver wasn't having it.

reply

At first, I thought he was being cautious because he thought the guy might be wired. But then I figured, he would have just pretended to not know what he was talking about, and NOT make such a threat. He was just in a bad mood and wanted to be left alone. He's also full of a lot of rage.

Wasnt being rude or mean, was putting an amateur in his place. Driver is as professional as professional can get and this is not how you do this kind of business.
