My take on the movie.. its awesome, here is why..

First i thought, yikes, what a cheap movie, B production for sure.. ,then i thought what zombie movie? really..than hmm, this is different..alot different..

then in the end, omg, this is masterpiece, classic.

What movie represents, the hive mentality, the next evolution of humanity is to merge into a hive like state(globalisation, standardisation, pop culture, pop everything), hooked to smartphones, selfies culture, selfishnes embraced in "i'm cool" thinking..

In the end he goes to destroy the evil yes? he blows it up, then we find out he is actually walking in the circle as others.. the meaning is dramatic if you really get it, he destroyed evil, protected his child, he won, he didn't let evil take him, he is .. a SLAVE.. to be slave is to think you are free, for that is the way one becomes a slave for ever.. and will protect their illusion no matter what.

All those "zombies" were ppl who succumbed to the hive mentality, in their mind they are as cusac saviours of their families, loved ones etc.. in their mind, in reality they did nothing of sorts, they are slaving in a circle according to frequencies that tells them in what circle to spin(coca-cola, internet, porn, self-gratification, etc)..

This movie is insanely good, and with A-production studio and money would become classic easy, but no studio would pick it as it criticizes the society in such a harsh manner and the hive idiots that actually compromise 99% of idiots who watch A-production blockbusters..

That is a terrible ending. You have to nurse a thread like that, not smack someone across the head with it in the last minute. It was ridiculous. King doesn't know his own limits and frequently wanders into deep waters where he drowns, but takes our two hours with him.

Your explanation is a lot better than what the movie really tells you and that is.. "yeah, I'm a pretty lame movie, so deal with it".

I have 2 remarks to do about the movie (I did not read the book).

1- The premise about the phonies was really great, I loved the idea, I hated the execution.

2- I loved Alice SO MUCH, her character was crucial to the story, as soon as she dies, I just lost all interest, the added characters didn't have sufficient screen time to be interesting at all and for me, it was a really lose oportunity, it was one of the best characters and they just killed her in the most important part... her death was like the death of the whole concept, the movie goes downhill past that point.

3- I totally freaked out with the antena/zombies scene at the ending and although I didn't liked the ending, the scenery is stuck into my mind, somehow, watching all those people/zombies walking around that huge dark antena gave me the chills..seriously, that scene justifies watching the whole movie for me, it was REALLY good, too bad it was not acompanied by a better scripted movie.

4- All in all, Stephen King, i *beep* hate you, soo many good stories ruined by lousy endings and loose ends you did this too me several times, the last movie I loved until the ending was The Mist, very interesting concepts, very well executed, godawful ending, and Stephen Kings seems to still believe he does good at screenwriting, he should just stop and hire an actual screenwriter, I dont fix computers and make lightbulbs and fix swiming pools, I fix computers and I'm good at it, King is good at writing novels, he should understand this and let the actual screenwriters (which are several good ones) do their job. I also hated Under the Dome, the series got into a level of stupidity that I really wanted to end.

My 2 cents.

I know what you mean. I'm was reminded of the Muslims in Mecca when I saw it. I've watched the ending 3 times so far. Just knowing that he got turned at the end makes up for the rest of the movie.

Yes it was a good horror ending but the problem is that the movie follows the main lead and treat the rest of the characters with disrespect, like they are secondary, then it gos on and waste the main character.

For the movie to have any meaning, it should had at least a better treatment of the secondary characters, I would made the main character more annoying, that way the ending could be at least justifiable.

Having the main lead turned trying to save his kid is just mean and waste the whole script, it's such a waste, specially with such a good scene.

Nobody wants to follow stories that ends up in absolute disaste, the movie pesimistic as hell only to be "cool" and innovative and end up being lame.

Good movie, bad character development, GOOD ending if it was in another movie, disastrous ending being tied to this movie.
