That kiss goodbye Jean gave Wolverine in the pilot.

Pretty much says it all, the way shes all pissed off at Scott for what he did. And the way she looks all sad because he is leaving just screams to the audience that Scott/Jean were never going to be the main show's couple. It was obvious from the start that the writers were forcing Wolverine/Jean onto us. Like what the hell? Are they serious?
If you think the show got a second season, do you honestly think that we would even want Scott & Jean together? I always thought they way it worked was - Scott and Jean were much in love, with EACH OTHER, and Wolverine had an unrequited love for Jean that she never returned. Like honestly, the way they portray Scott too makes us not even feel like he deserves Jean. And when she had amnesia, it didnt even feel like she was in any way in love with Scott. And why did they give that psychic bond thing to Scott & Emma? Honestly, I thought it was just known that it was supposed to be Scott & Jean that had that special connection. I bet if they continued on, putting Wolverine in the spotlight the way they did, that they would hype up Wolverine and Jean together as a couple.

I'm sorry what do you think your doing?

QUE? Emma said quite clearly it was Scott who had a psychic bond with Jean, it was why she ran out of the Inner Circle, now granted she also had feeling for Scott but they never sow in any way he shared a psychic bond with her.

It was just one of the show's many flaws. I guess we shouldn't be surprised in light of the misconceptions of the films and the fact that Scott's been dating Emma in the comics for a few years now. It almost feels like they wanted the audience to boo Jean and root for Emma to rescue Scott from his unhealthy relationship with Jean. You know, if you want the audience to feel for a guy who lost his girlfriend, you need to make some effort to show that his girlfriend actually cared about him. And no, showing her save him from being crushed by a bus does not prove their love.

I can only imagine how much worse things were going to get for them in season 2, which would have featured AoA and all that.
