Did they seriously kill... (spoiler)

I really wish they would have continued the series. Not only because I really enjoyed the show, but also because I would have liked some answers to the questions left by the last episode

It's really strange for them to kill off a main character, especially when Emma doesn't die in any movies or comics (that I know of). Also it'd be really unusual because this is a kids show! Also the way she "died" was pretty brutal! Her diamond body shattered and exploded. It then rained diamonds, leaving her body all over the entire city? That's pretty extreme. Especially since they always find some way to make it to where no one dies in any of the fights. Even when buildings were destroyed, they made sure we knew that they were "empty warehouses".

My cousins (ages 4, 7, 10, and 13) loved X-men Evolution, so I was going to show them Wolverine and the X-men next, but I'm really not sure how to explain Emma's predicament. They were so worried about Mystique being dead in Evolution (when her stone body was pushed off a cliff) because they didn't want anyone to die in the show. I seriously doubt Emma is dead, but I don't have any other explaination for what happened.

Spoiler much? This is a serial.

Don't feed the trolls! Ignore is there for a reason

Emma briefly died in the comics but of course she got better because Quesada & Morrison had a thing for her, so she was slated to come back in season 2 before it got canned.

reply

Dang sorry! Normally I'm really good about putting up spoiler warnings, etc. I changed it.

I wonder how she could have possibly survived that though? I wish even though the series was cancelled, that the makers would release a statment of how things were meant to end since they ended the series on a cliffhanger. Course I'm mainly talking about how Emma could have possibly come back.

reply

yeah. I only recently watched it and like it a lot more than the 1992 version (which first introduced me to x-men) just wish they had more gambit, he was always my fav

According to either Josh Fine or Greg Johnson in one of their post-W&TXM interivews, the idea was that Emma had placed a little bit of her consciousness in the mind of Jean Grey, and that during season 2 Jean was going to start acting like Emma (some of the production sketches Steve Gordon posted on his Facebook page seem to indicate this) which would lead to Beast - or someone else - rebuilding Emma's shattered diamond body so that her mind could be put back where it belonged. And of course, this would include a painfully harlequin triangle of Jean/Cyclops/Emma.

Hmm that'd be interesting. I wonder how Emma Frost's consciousness could have even gotten inside of Jean though? I know Emma absorbed the Phoenix, but by that point the Phoenix wasn't part of Jean anymore.

TruthPredator -

What I don't understand is why she even did what she did?..The Phoenix still broke out of her.

If I remember right, Emma feared what would happen if the Phoenix took up root in Jean again, and of course Cyclops was about to get fried by the Phoenix and since Emma felt sorry for the poor dumb lug she threw herself in harms way for the greater good, even though she probably knew or at least suspected something painful would happen.

I'm not entirely sure how Emma was supposed to put her consciousness in Jean's head either; just one of those "telepath" things I guess.

It would have been cool to see Jean let loose a little like Emma always would. I'm just mainly depressed that when Jean FINALLY gets back on the main X-men team, the show is cancelled (Jean is my favorite character if you couldn't guess ) It's cool to see the sketches and plans they had for the second season though.

Anyone know what the plans were for armless wolverine? Not entirely sure how it's even possible for him to lose an arm (or hand. Can't remember which was lost). Considering how he has healing powers, and his skeleton is indestructable.

reply

Well I just watched the special feature on the full series dvd of Wolverine in the X-men. It didn't really seem as though they had any intention of bringing Emma back which is surprising, but I'm assuming that at the time they filmed the interviews, they didn't know that season 2 wasn't going to happen. So who knows.

i think phoneix died too without a host for so long which is just stupid, how does a psychic energy being have trouble with that

reply

I seriously missed this. Which episode was this?

reply

When did he lose a hand?

reply

In the Age of Apocalypse story line Wolverine is missing a hand. I've never read it so I don't know how he lost it since as was said he has that healing factor and unbreakable bones.
