Heavily underrated film in this decade

Although, I think this movie has flaws. I like it better than 90% of Marvel movies. I wish DC had maintained this tone throughout their other movies instead of caving to Marvel audiences where everything is a joke and every character has an interchangeable personality since they all just quip

For sure. If this film came out in Dark Knight era, it would have been very well received. I think when all the dust settles, 20,30 years from now, people will look back and say, "hey, this film was actually pretty great."

So why didnt it make more then ? whys it Marvels fault that this average film didnt make more money ? The market is big enough for both franchises to make good money.

Snyders superman was as dull as dishwater, looked the part but by god Henry Cavill is so wooden, could of mistook this movie for a Michael Bay fillm.

How is Iron Man 3 and Avengers Kid friendly ? they were rated the same as Man of steel ?? How is Man of steel realistic ? At least Donners superman had heart and soul, this was just so very dull.

I'm actually in a different place with this movie. I loved it when I saw it in the theater. Over time I've come to like it less and less.

It showcased what a talentless hack Zack Snyder is....that's all it does.

Maybe. Superman is kind of boring and Snyder made him more interesting but I don't think America was ready for that.

This film came on the heels of the The Dark Knights Rises which was a series grounded in "realism" and was a large commercial success so there was a demand for a darker tone in the genre.

I really enjoyed MOS, but it does have its flaws. For example, the latter half of the film is just an action CGI fest which got repetitive by the third act. I think people mostly do not like it because it strays from what you expect from a Superman film; fun, light-hearted, phone booths, and Lois Lane doing investigative journalism.

To me it was more of a coming of age film for Superman which was different and I really enjoyed it. However, I can see how others did not because it is a flawed film. I do not think the time of its release had much to do with its shortcomings commercially or critically. Since when has the genre been filled with non-kid-friendly films?
