The babysitter was black, the Santa Claus was black...

...their friends were black, the woman from his past was black...

Is that how middle-class black people living in an affluent suburb live, in a bubble of blackness?

Most middle class black people associate with other black people. It is not uncommon. Plus Chris Rock's character has that white friend from work. So it wasn't exactly a white bubble. Actually Chris was the only black guy(save the janitor) at his work. So Chris Rock's

How is this any different than white people living in a bubble of whiteness??

Not to bring reality into this conversation, but you generally don't find that many black people in affluent suburbs in this country.

I mean the Chris Rock and Gina Torres character talked about making an effort to connect to other black people in their community TWICE in the film (1) Torres' character trying to find a mocha mommy group & 2)being the only black guy at his firm without a blue collar job).

You think it's weird that there's a black santa and a babysitter? I think you need to narrow your definition of what's weird in the world. :(

@Johmmycashak

There are suburbs with rich or middle-class black folks all over the country---the Detroit area too---do the research and stop assuming things.

That's what Chris Rock does. All his jokes are white person this or black person that. He plays the same character in every movie he is in.

replace "black" with "white" in your own question, then answer it....

It's mercy, compassion and forgiveness I lack. Not rationality...

It's not hard to find a black babysitter, as it's a pretty low paying job. As far as Santa Claus goes, you don't have to be in the suburbs to find that. I live in Atlanta and most of the inner-city malls in black neighborhoods have them too. Not many white guys want to go to the hood, outside of going there to purchase drugs and prostitutes that is.
