I want to find more movies like this!

Can anybody help me out?

Along these criteria:

-A-List
-Caribbean.
-1980 to now.
-Adventure.
-Water.
-Islands.
-Modern.

(Would be nice but not necessarily:)
-Action.
-Romance.
-Treasure.

I've already seen Into The Blue, Sahara & The Deep. Plus although I like the "Pirates" franchise, these aren't modern set stories, so don't bother.

I'm looking for some great tips concerning movies along the line of Fool's Gold, Into The Blue & Sahara. They must be quality films.

Though I have some real knowledge of film, there seem to be (or I simply don't know of) other great tropical, treasure films set in modern times...

If there are any, please let me know???????????

I highly recommend you watch "Captain Ron", starring Kurt Russell. Its a family comedy set in the Caribbean, but not really a romance movie. Great scenery, sound track, etc. Its a real feel good flick to watch especially in the winter.

You should also try "Nate & Hayes", if you can find it. Its an older 80's movie starring Tommy Lee Jones, obviously much younger. Its a lot like Pirates of the Caribbean, action, romance, treasure, and fun.

Like you, I love movies/books set in the islands like these.

THANK YOU very much, I will watch both!

But am I wrong here? Apart from forties and fifties movies there aren't many upbeat treasure hunting flicks out there.

I really, really like the steel drum, blue water, pleasant leading cast, exciting mysterious treasure hunting, grand adventure of these Bahamianesque adventure flicks.

Indiana Jones does this thing VERY well, although it isn't tropical per se. The 'National Treasure' does this pleasantly also, though not tropic at all. The 'Pirates' franchise is fantastic, but hard to identify with (due to time-period and "magic"), it is fantastically tropical, adventurous and upbeat (in a way), but it just not modern with steely drums...

So this leaves Fool's Gold (GREAT FUN), Into the Blue and Sahara.

Action packed movies galore...

But where are my BLUEWATER ADVENTURES???

Although most of them are not set in the Caribbean (or not even around water) I can recommend the following titles:

Romance-Action-Adventure movies involving a bickering couple and possibly a (treasure) quest:

- After The Sunset (tropical setting)
- Licence To Kill (Caribbean setting)
- Romancing The Stone (set in Colombia, I think)
- The Jewel Of The Nile (set in Mid-East/desert)
- The Mexican (Mexico)
- Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom (India; setting is not contemporary though)
- True Lies (partly set in Florida)
- Six Days Seven Nights (maybe; tropical setting)
- Knight & Day (several scenes in tropical and/or mediterranean setting)

- Never Say Never Again (Bahamas)
- For Your Eyes Only (underwater scenes of Bond and Bond-girl)

Couples Retreat is good.
Blue Crush is not good, but its in Hawaii, as well as Forgetting Sarah Marshal.

Water World. Not a treasure hunting type of movie, but it has some action in it.

I highly advise you take up gaming pick up your self up a PlayStation 3 and the uncharted series.

If your not a big gamer just play it on easy and enjoy the characters and plots.

but if you really can not play games ( incapable due to issues or just can not afford the machines then you could always watch them.. but try and bite your lip at the person playing, they went to the trouble of doing all this and not editing the "play" sections..)

So funny you'd mention that. I was playing Uncharted 3 right before watching Fool's Gold and felt those to be so similar! Would recommend these games to anyone who liked Fool's Gold!

Also you might want to try out "the finder" it only had 1 season and was canceled..
But it is 1 season of pure bliss.
