I haven't seen the movie, and dont plan to (the theme seem a bit interesting, but I dont watch dramas). But in the movie, how bad has the situation in the world gotten, in order to reinstate the draft? Or is it because of something else?

.........During the movie there are some news reports but, aside from describing the resumption of the draft and the opposition to it, most reflected the real life realities of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan in 2007. There were no references to any major domestic terrorist attacks since 2001. While the movie was good and brought up some interesting questions the lack of an event, major enough to get the President and Congress to authorize the resumption of the draft, didn't do much for the stories believability.
TAG LINE: True genius is a beautiful thing, but ignorance is ugly to the bone.
