..........During the Vietnam War Canada gave asylum to American draft resisters. Canada was not directly involved in the Vietnam War but Canadian armed forces personal took part in both Iraq wars and, unless things have changed, are still in Afghanistan. With the lives of their own people on the line the line the Canadian government has made no secret of the fact any military deserters, who try to get asylum, will be sent back. Presumably Americans, trying to escape some future draft, would get the same treatment unless the US was involved in a conflict viewed by much of the world as questionable.
