It would have been critically lauded. It is terribly underrated, and a fine work by Wong, who in my estimation, has yet to make a bad film.

Totally agree. I don't understand why it got so bashed, critically. I personally don't think it's one of his best films like 2046 ot In the Mood For Love but it's certainly still head and shoulders above most other stuff that gets churned out at the moment.

At the high point of our intimacy, we were just 0.01cm from each other.

I completely agree. I love his other films but had low expectations of this one based on the bad reviews I read, but I ended up really liking it.

Well, he didn't make it that bad really, and with all his poetry and stylish visional trademark, 'My Blueberry Nights' is not less enjoyable than his other works. But of course in most people's opinion, WKW is better off when doing his work in 'oriental' style. And that I happen to agree....
