What is this about exactly?!

I can;t even tell what this about; the synopsis on wikipedia is hopelessly confusing and the trailer is poorly put together and has left me no clues. What is going on?

For what I understood it's about a man that works at a coffee shop, has a very boring life, nothing interesting happens until he meets norah jones and he's life becomes more "worthy", meanwhile norah jones travels to different parts of usa and runs into the character of natalie portman who is a crazy, not very estable women.

Yep, the trailer seems boring and poorly put together. I just would like to watch this movie cos' three of my 5 favorite women act in it.

I love:
1.natalie portman
2. rachel
3. norah
4. kate winslet
5. drew barrymore.

I'm not sure I'm gonna like the movie, but I'm gonna give it a try.
Besides everyone here says the director is great, so... if I don't like it I'm just gonna loose $17.

Sometimes, crossing the street is not that hard if there is someone waiting for you on the other side.

This is actually this movie. The movie is about a girl who finds out that the love of her life is cheating on her and tries to escape by going on a roadtrip. In her escape she goes through the emotional growth and healing that enables her accept the advances of another man back home with whom she connects with.

A girl with a broken heart wanders into a cafe owned by a complete twit. They flirt for awhile while he feeds her blueberry pies. Then she inexplicably takes off across the country on a bus. Along the way she has some rather pointless interactions with flat unrealized characters. Then she goes back to New York.

Hooper, you must be male. TWIT??? I could love a twit like that.

"Flat unrealized characters"??? The couple in Memphis were 2 of the most amazingly, yet economically crafted characters I have ever seen in cinema. Wong is dead on--they WERE like something out of a Tennessee Williams play. And DS and RW are such incredible actors--they wrung every bit of nuance out of their brief screen time. NP was pretty good too, and her character was incredibly interesting.

it was supposed to be a journey of discovery or something.

problem is we never see Nora travel anywhere, she seems to BE at different locations which all look the same, and we dont see the travel part.

well for a first acting role, Norah wasnt too bad
