The Magic Roundabout Broke Down

Why did they feel the need to change it? "The Magic Roundabout" was a great film.

Then again it was in keeping with the show "The Magic Roundabout" as a late 60's French show that the BBC bought for the UK, but couldn't be bothered to translate it, so they made the script up instead.

That was exactly why I stayed away from DOOGAL. I vaguely remembered seeing the old stop motion shorts on Nickeloden way back when. It should've done well in the US as it was. (I mean, the guy Jon Stewart dubbed over was played by Tom Baker!!!) This Americanized version was a cynical insult to the original. It's just another way for the Weinsteins to one-up Pixar and make a quick buck. They needed to add more celebrity voices, more bathroom jokes and even more pop culture references. The fact that Butch Hartman (THE FAIRLY ODDPARENTS, DANNY PHANTOM) did the US screenplay does NOT help matters much.

This is one of the greatest tragedies in animation since what the Weinsteins helped to do to Richard Williams' THE THIEF AND THE COBBLER (as ARABIAN KNIGHT). They must be stopped!
