In fairness to the OP, I know the Harry Potter books released in the U.S. have been somewhat changed from the original British releases -- slang is changed around, in the first book the American versions use "Mom" instead of "Mum" when the Weasley kids are talking to Molly, and even the title of the first book (Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone to Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone) was changed. Don't know about the movies you mention.
