Should I watch it?

It looked funny to me, and it has a definitely impressive voice cast, so, do you think this movie is good enough for me? And was it even slightly funny?

It's a horrible movie. I found it hysterical. You'll either love it like I did or feel like you wasted 90 minutes of your life.

I agree that the voice cast was impressive, but the movie left little to be desired. Now, I know it was meant for kids and I was watching it with kids; but if you're older and want to enjoy it, count all the obvious puns and pop-culture references. That will make the time fly by.

Watch it for yourself. If there's one thing I've learned about choosing movies, it's that my taste is too varied to depend on the analysis of any other viewer, critics in particular.

See, here's the thing. There is a long standing tradition in children's movies of trying to appeal to the adults who drive the little ones to the theatre. That tradition has recently gone so far askew that the children don't get what the adults are laughing at. While the other level of humor can be, admittedly, fun for the grown-ups, it does make it seem a bit unfair for the littlest audience members.

I watched the DVD with my first grader today and he really loved it. Yes, there are still the pop culture references for the more savvy audience members, but the sweetness and simplicity of animation was just what my child enjoys. Just think about Teletubbies and Boo-bahs. Pre-schoolers are often too old to appreciate them, but put a baby in front of the TV and they are mesmerized. Obviously someone in research really knows what is developmentally appropriate for babies. I think the same is true for Doogal. My research today proves the point that it entertains a child. I enjoyed it, too. Although I thought the potty humor (toots, pooping and the snail sliming himself) was a little gratuitous and a ploy for the post potty training set. ;o)

I admit that I checked out the boards because I knew this movie would bring out the critic in most people, but come on! Judi Dench's voice makes everything right. ;o)

i know my 4 yr old didn't get some of the pop culture jokes, but she still thought they were funny and laughed at them. she feels happy enough while watching to laugh at almost anything and that's great.

it's worth watching, i think. i really liked it.

I went to go see it with my friend because it just looked so bad. It was, and we couldn't stop laughing at it. I mean half the characters don't even move their mouth when they talk, it can't get much worse than that. DON'T SEE IT UNLESS YOU LIKE BAD MOVIES!!

reply

If you really want to see it, I suggest that you rent it. The movie really isn't anything that special. But that's only my opinion :).

Wait until it comes on tv. Don't spend money on this movie.

To put things simply, *beep* NO !!!

How about a bit of the old ultraviolence?

I wouldn't recommend a movie that is for 3 and 4 year olds.

Kids find it to be a great time, and a very fun movie, but it's not even meant for adults. So don't listen to the wannabe movie critics on here trying to tell you that this movie is garbage, because they obviously miss the fact that this movie isn't for them, it's for their preschool kids.

Then again, that would imply that the people bashing this movie are smart enough to have sex.

Quite frankly, this movie is an insult to anyone's intelligence, adult or kid alike. There were higher quality movies that came out in 2006 that were at least clever and well produced. Rent "Over the Hedge" or "Monster House." This just sucked.

Its now being sold at the 99cent store. That should tell you something. Only watch it if you want to laugh at how bad it is.
