See the original UK version, much better by far

The acting is better. Tom Baker is an actor. Jon Stewart is not. He has been the first to admit that on his own Daily Show. The UK version does not have all those in-jokes (a few of which were funny but the great mass were useless.) The moose does not talk. There is no Narrator. The producers of the American version appear to the be the kind who think that pandering to the lowest common denominator is the only way to go toward profitability. The American version is boring because it never shuts up. They took away all the great British actors (except for Ian McKellen because he is a Hot Property due to X-Men and The daVinci Code and The Lord of the Rings) and threw in Judi Dench to explain to all the kiddies exactly what they were seeing with their own eyes because, after all, the producers know that all children are idiots and have to have "red" explained to them when they are looking at a cherry. I pity the producers' children who are probably going to spend the rest of their lives in therapy because daddy was such a t.w.a.t. No, in the UK version there is no narration, no in-jokes (or very few and only the funny ones,) the characters are all much more likable, the story is clearer, the action scenes more daring and scaring, and all the songs come through clear as a bell without all that yammering. Really, I can't fault a cartoon that has ELO on the soundtrack. This cartoon is really as good as James and the Giant Peach. Get a copy of the original UK version and watch it. You'll all change your tune. And remember, Hollywould is what gave us Harrison Ford over Rutger Hauer. It's the place that relegated Sean Bean to pathetic psycho bad guy roles and bit parts. If you watch Silent Hill, you can see the sadness in his eyes, like he had to drag himself out of the trailer every day to say his few lines when all he could think of was how he could be playing Shakespeare at the Globe in front of people who really appreciate an actor's skill. I mean, why dub an English movie into English, unless it's to get rid of the British accents and douse us with the annoying goo of Americanese? Really. Jingoism is alive and well and living in The OC. There was no need for an American version. Can you imagine if Wallace and Gromit had been overdubbed with, oh, say, Jay and Silent Bob? Not that Bob would do any dubbing but Gromit never said anything, if you catch my drift. They would have done it if Aardman had not had a spine. Down with Howlywood and their MPAA and RIAA and all that nasty, pretentious possessiveness. They make things that are barely watchable or listenable for people to watch and hear, and then say it may not be watched or heard without dropping a coin in the slot every five seconds. Anything good that comes from over the pond has to be fiddled with and twisted out of shape until it's barely watchable, and then they have the temerity to blame us when we don't like it. I think the WTC was the wrong target. Those fellows could have done us all a favor and taken out Hollywood instead. Maybe the rest of the world could get back to some quality for a change. The world would have applauded and we could all be friends instead of all this trouble we're going through now.
