90's song in background..
About 27 minutes into the movie, when Hugh Grant goes to visit Sophie at "Weight-Not" there is a song playing in the background that is from the 90's?
Anybody recall what song this is?

Found it, and there is some irony! The song is "Edge of the Ocean" by Ivy - whose members include Adam Schlesinger (who did a lot of the songs on the soundtrack of the movie).

I don't think that counts as irony. It would if that song had really just been playing on a radio in the background when they were filming, but it is far more likely that they chose to use that song for that very reason.

There are two types of movies on cable; the good ones, and the ones that are on when you're home!

Yeah there's no irony there at all, they deliberately used an Ivy song. The same reason Radiation Vibe is playing in the record store when Alec shows Sophie his solo album; Adam Schlesinger being one of the chief songwriters in Fountains of Wayne as well.
