8.2? seriously...
look at these other movies from the top 250 and their ratings..and tell me if this is worth 8.2 even if it isn't inspiring at all as i concluded from my viewing and from the message boards..

121. Like Stars on Earth (2007) 8.2
134. Blade Runner (1982) 8.2
137. Good Will Hunting (1997) 8.2
143. Casino (1995) 8.2
146. V for Vendetta (2005) 8.2
145. Rush (2013) 8.2
147. 12 Years a Slave (2013) 8.2
154. Gone with the Wind (1939) 8.2

Probably the most overrated movie in the ibdb..

Not sure I'd call this movie overrated, but it's certainly not for everyone. It wasn't really a movie that clicked with me, yet I can see the quality it possesses. Just one of those things.

If anything, 12 Years a Slave is extremely overrated for being in the top 250.
And yes, I found it to be a near masterpiece, very inspiring and definitely worth its rating and even higher.

I Sympathize with Lars Von Trier.

I think this film is massively overrated - particularly when you see the great films that share the same rating. I don't usually say films are over or under rated as it's all preference and you can't force taste on people. I just think this movie appeals to a certain type of person and they generally are the ones who will watch it (not many average moviegoers or even people that may dislike it will choose it on a whim).

Nah, great film. Acting, cinematography, score - some of the others you've mentioned don't warrant 8.2 imo

Underrated. It should atleast be 8.5

One of the most beautiful movies made with a powerful climax.

A movie doesn't have to have a definitive climax. Even Good Will Hunting like you mentioned earlier doesn't really have one. That doesn't make them bad movies.

I understand the polarization, but I love this movie...and in my neck of the woods I would say it's underrated. Most people I know don't really know of it too well or haven't seen it. Outside of that I would say it's pretty well known though and got a lot of attention when it was coming out. I know the book is taught in schools and the movie is subsequently shown as well..so it's reaching, at least, that faction of people.

I wouldn't say it's overrated at all though...but maybe those are the wrong terms for how I'm thinking. In my mind, maybe underappreciated is better. I certainly know that's not the case with everyone though!

This is UNDERRATED! Everybody should watch this film, it really has changed my life! People put too much empathise on Marriage, kids, appearance, mortgage, study, decent income... I say f^&k all that!
