The Jason Axiom

Jason gives us the creeps, since he stalks people almost without reason.

His victims are average, everyday passerby.

Jason represents a general panic about the uncertainties of self-awareness, and "Friday the 13th" (2009) is a re-make which reminds us how this iconic and unusual film franchise effectively captures audiences' fascination with terror and turbulence.

Of all the American horror film psychos --- Leatherface, Freddy Krueger, etc. --- Jason is the one that seems most intent on killing without apparent motive --- almost as if he's the Devil or Cujo himself.

This 2009 re-make made me excited to see more re-makes/sequels so the franchise stays alive. There are already great films in this panic-horror franchise:

1. "Friday the 13th: Part III" (1982): the one where Jason first starts wearing his strange hockey-mask

2. "Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood" (1988): the one where Jason contends with a young woman with telekinesis

3. "Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan" (1989): the one where Jason finds his way into New York

Mostly, I think this 2009 re-make represents film world investments in this timeless Evil Leprechaun.

In "Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood" (1988), Jason contends with a young woman with telekinetic powers.

We like to pit Jason against a potential wily escape-artist who has what it takes to trap the hockey-mask wearing serial killer in some kind of chamber or spiritual prison.

I mean, it's easy to just take the easy shortcut and say, "Only Freddy Krueger can take on Jason Voorhees."

Why not invest in a modernized re-make(?), and "Friday the 13th" (2009) boasts the atmospheric elements to create a Jason forest campfire. As long as you keep some basic ingredients, you can't go wrong with a stalking Jason. There's no shame in renting this on Netflix.

Incidentally, does one need telekinesis to understand Jason?

If you met someone at work who seemed to exhibit eerie qualities of coldness and unresponsiveness to sympathies, would you think he could turn out to be Jason Voorhees?

"Friday the 13th" (2009) does a nice job in presenting the overall strangeness of the iconic horror film character and revealing why he would use a machete.

I suppose this version does have meaning. But I don't know, I just keep to the original movies. I think they told a lot of stories about Jason. The campfire scenes in the originals also explained. But I don't know, I guess remakes also serve to add more to the story and making it more modernized also? Rumor seems to have it, there's another Jason movie being made. I just think I liked the originals more, at least up until Jason Goes to Hell.
